DraftStars Dominance: Dockers and Tigers Tangle in the West

The lights are shining bright at Perth Stadium this Saturday night as Fremantle host Richmond in an early-season blockbuster. With the wide-open expanses of the Optus Stadium deck in play, expect a high-possession, end-to-end game that is absolute poetry for our DraftStars squads. Both sides are desperate for the four points, making this a mouth-watering contest for daily fantasy coaches looking to cash in.

When crunching the data, our FootyBets.ai algorithm has identified a core group of absolute locks. Here’s why these five are popping up in almost every optimal build:

• Sean Darcy (RUC): Appearing in 100% of our top builds, "Swag On" is primed to feast. Expect him to dominate the hitouts, follow up at ground level, and rack up clearance points against an undersized Tigers ruck division.
• Nick Vlastuin (DEF): The ultimate general down back. Vlastuin is a lock for huge intercept mark numbers and will be heavily heavily relied upon to mop up and rebound every time the Dockers bomb it inside 50.
• Luke Ryan (DEF): You simply can't ignore a bloke projected to push past 90 points. Ryan is a disposal magnet who pads his stats with uncontested marks and kick-ins across half-back.
• Neil Erasmus (MID): Finding his feet in the engine room, Erasmus is an optimal favourite this week. He's going to get his hands dirty in the clinches, translating to hardball gets and heavy tackling numbers.
• Christopher Scerri (FWD): The Freo young gun is an AI favourite up forward. He brings relentless forward-half pressure for tackle points and is heavily backed to hit the scoreboard with a couple of snags.

Position-by-Position Quick Tips

• RUC: Do not overthink it. Sean Darcy is the undisputed king of the ruck ring in this matchup.
• DEF: Volume is everything. Luke Ryan and Nick Vlastuin provide the elite, safe floors you need from your backline.
• MID: Target the high-ceiling ball magnets. Tim Taranto is heavily favoured by our AI to rack up massive disposal numbers, but sprinkling in contested beasts like Caleb Serong or Andrew Brayshaw could be your ticket to taking out the major prize.
• FWD: Lock in Christopher Scerri, but look to pair him with Richmond's Tom Brown or a goal-hungry Josh Treacy to capture that crucial forward variance.
