FootyBets.aiMCG Mayhem: Tigers vs Hawks DraftStars Preview
The MCG is set for a Sunday afternoon blockbuster as Richmond hosts Hawthorn in a classic Victorian derby. With both sides desperate to assert control, expect a high-intensity, high-possession affair under the G's big lights. For daily fantasy coaches, this matchup is a absolute goldmine of point-scoring potential.
Here are the key players our AI has identified to build your lineups around:
- Tim Taranto (Richmond, MID): The ultimate fantasy beast. Taranto's relentless tackling work rate and ability to win the contested footy at stoppages make him a near-certainty to push well past his massive 109.7 projection.
- Jai Newcombe (Hawthorn, MID): Hawthorn's engine room leader. Expect 'Duke' to dominate the clearances and kick-start the Hawks' transition, while chipping in with his trademark hard-nosed tackles for a projected 102.8 points.
- Jayden Short (Richmond, DEF): Short is a fantasy cheat code. His elite kicking game means he’ll take the bulk of Richmond's kick-ins, racking up cheap uncontested marks and rebound-50 disposals at will.
- Lloyd Meek (Hawthorn, RUC): Meek is primed to dominate the hit-out count. His ability to follow up at ground level and grab contested marks down the line makes him a highly reliable option.
- Oliver Greeves (Hawthorn, FWD): Appearing in every single optimal lineup, Greeves is the ultimate enabler. His forward-half pressure acts and goal-snapping ability offer massive point-scoring efficiency.
Position-by-Position Quick Tips
- RUC: Lloyd Meek is your set-and-forget option to win the hit-out battle and feed his mids first use.
- DEF: Lock in Jayden Short for a massive scoring floor, but look to Sam Banks (7/10 lineups) for some cheeky intercept-marking value.
- MID: Go heavy with Taranto and Newcombe, but use Josh Ward (6/10 lineups) as a point-of-difference option who can rack up uncontested possessions on the wing.
- FWD: Pair Dylan Moore's elite work rate and goal-scoring threat with Sam Lalor (4/10 lineups) to capture maximum upside up forward.
