FootyBets.aiHawk-Tasmania! Why Hawthorn is Set to Dominate DraftStars at York Park
Hawthorn heads down to their Launceston fortress this Saturday to host Melbourne in what shapes up as a chilly, high-stakes clash at York Park. The windy Tasmanian conditions always throw up a unique DFS challenge, but our AI models have crunched the numbers and come back with a resounding verdict. It’s a total brown-and-gold takeover, with Hawthorn players absolutely dominating the optimal selections.
Here are the key Hawks set to feather your DFS nest this weekend:
- James Sicily (DEF | Projected 97.6 pts): The skipper loves the Apple Isle. Expect Sicily to patrol the defensive half, racking up intercept marks and launching counter-attacks. His kick-ins and rebound volume are fantasy gold.
- Connor Macdonald (MID | Projected 94.6 pts): Macdonald is in sparkling form. His ability to link up through the corridor, find uncontested space, and hit the scoreboard makes him a high-ceiling midfield option.
- Massimo D'Ambrosio (MID | Projected 91.6 pts): Operating on the wing, D'Ambrosio’s pinpoint kicking and run-and-carry are perfect for the narrow York Park deck. He is primed for a high-disposal afternoon.
- Lloyd Meek (RUC | Projected 70.4 pts): Appearing in 100% of our optimal lineups, Meek is tipped to dominate the hitout battle, giving his rovers first use while chipping in with crucial tackles and clearances.
Position-by-Position Quick Tips
- Ruck: Lloyd Meek. Don’t overthink it—our AI has him as a set-and-forget lock to control the air.
- Defense: Pair up James Sicily with Blake Hardwick (Projected 80.8 pts). They’ll absorb Melbourne's inside-50 entries and rack up cheap possessions off half-back.
- Midfield: Go differential with Cam Mackenzie (Projected 89.6 pts). He offers great tackle pressure and inside-mid utility.
- Forward: Jack Gunston (Projected 79.0 pts) knows the Tassie breeze better than anyone. Partner him with cheap enabler William McCabe (Projected 57.2 pts) to round out your attack.
