FootyBets.aiFriday Night Blockbuster: Carlton vs Geelong DraftStars Preview
Friday night footy under the lights at the MCG doesn't get much better than Carlton taking on the Geelong Cats. Both sides are stacked with premium ball-winners and intercept kings, making this prime-time clash an absolute goldmine for DraftStars coaches. Expect a bruising, highly contested game script that will breed massive fantasy numbers.
Our FootyBets.ai engine has crunched the data, and here are the absolute locks you need to build around tonight:
- Patrick Cripps (MID): The Carlton skipper is a 100% lock in our AI models. In a tight, contested game at the 'G, expect Crippa to stuff the stat sheet with clearances, hardball gets, and bone-crunching tackles.
- Tom Stewart (DEF): Death, taxes, and Tom Stewart taking intercept marks. He’s featuring in every single optimal build, ready to rack up easy +3s and rebound out of the defensive 50 all night long.
- Max Holmes (MID): Projected for a massive 106.9 points, Holmes is the ceiling play of the slate. His elite running capacity means he'll link up for uncontested marks and rack up outside disposals at will.
- Gryan Miers (FWD): Finding reliable forwards is always the toughest part of the slate, but Miers appears in 80% of top builds. He pushes high up the ground, accumulating touches and crucial score involvements.
Position-by-Position Quick Tips:
- RUC: Don't overthink the big men—Mitchell Edwards is sweeping 100% of our optimal lineups. Lock him in for solid tap work and around-the-ground presence.
- DEF: Tom Stewart is the clear anchor, but don't sleep on Carlton's Nic Newman for his reliable kick-ins and elite defensive distribution.
- MID: It's a star-studded engine room. Pair Max Holmes and Patrick Cripps, but consider injecting Oliver Dempsey or Sam Walsh to supercharge your scoring potential.
- FWD: Gryan Miers leads the pack. Look to sprinkle in Jack Ison or Harry McKay if you're hunting for big contested grabs and multiple goals.
