FootyBets.aiPower Trip to the Top End: Suns vs Port DraftStars Preview
Friday night footy heads to the Top End as the Gold Coast Suns take on Port Adelaide at Marrara Oval. Darwin's trademark heavy humidity usually guarantees a slippery, hotly contested footy match with huge tackle counts and plenty of stoppages. Both sides are packed with midfield bulls ready to get their hands dirty, making this an absolute ripper of a DraftStars slate.
Here are the heavy hitters dominating our AI models this week:
Jason Horne-Francis (FWD) Locked into 100% of our optimal builds. JHF is a battering ram at the stoppages, bringing explosive clearances and fierce tackling pressure. Given his ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard, he’s an absolute must-have.
Willem Drew (MID) Built for the Darwin conditions. Drew is a tackling machine who thrives in scrappy, contested situations. Expect him to bury his head over the ball, racking up hard-ball gets and defensive stats for a rock-solid points floor.
Noah Anderson (MID) The Suns' prime accumulator appears in 90% of top lineups. Anderson rarely misses out on a massive disposal count, constantly linking up through the middle and cashing in on kicks from stoppage clearances.
John Noble (DEF) A defensive staple this week. With the ball expected to spend plenty of time pinballing inside Port's forward half, Noble will be relied upon to mop up across half-back, padding his score with crucial intercept marks and rebounding kicks.
Position-by-Position Quick Tips
- RUC: Lock in Dante Visentini. He features in every single optimal lineup to grind out the hit-outs and lay his fair share of tackles in the clinches.
- DEF: Target the runners. John Noble and Daniel Rioli are the premier picks to farm points from intercept marks and run-and-carry out of defensive 50.
- MID: Back the contested beasts. Zak Butters offers the highest ceiling of the slate (projected 108.0 pts), while Will Lorenz is a sneaky high-exposure accumulator.
- FWD: Anchor your forward line with Horne-Francis, and look to Joe Richards for high-pressure forward half tackles and goal assists.
